Un desafío de salud silencioso pero poderoso está tomando forma en América Latina: el aumento de las enfermedades no transmisibles (ENT). Las enfermedades no transmisibles, también conocidas como enfermedades crónicas, son condiciones médicas que tienden a desarrollarse lentamente con el tiempo y a menudo están relacionadas con factores de estilo de vida y medio ambiente. Estas incluyen enfermedades cardíacas, diabetes, obesidad y ciertos tipos de cáncer. Mientras que las enfermedades infecciosas históricamente han dominado las preocupaciones de salud, las ENT están ganando prominencia como una amenaza significativa para la salud.
