Un desafío de salud silencioso pero poderoso está tomando forma en América Latina: el aumento de las enfermedades no transmisibles (ENT). Las enfermedades no transmisibles, también conocidas como enfermedades crónicas, son condiciones médicas que tienden a desarrollarse lentamente con el tiempo y a menudo están relacionadas con factores de estilo de vida y medio ambiente. Estas incluyen enfermedades cardíacas, diabetes, obesidad y ciertos tipos de cáncer. Mientras que las enfermedades infecciosas históricamente han dominado las preocupaciones de salud, las ENT están ganando prominencia como una amenaza significativa para la salud. Esta entrada de blog profundiza en las causas detrás de esta tendencia preocupante y explora las medidas que se están tomando para contrarrestar el creciente impacto de las ENT en la salud y el bienestar de la región.
